Empowering Youth through Art

Our Mission

"To empower underprivileged and at-risk youth to realize their full potential through the vibrant world of street art. We provide mentorship, classes, art therapy, art education, and hands-on internships with local galleries, museums, and professional street artists. By connecting young creatives with sanctioned public arts projects, we aim to foster self-expression, build confidence, and create pathways to personal and professional growth. Together, we strive to transform our communities through the power of art, inspiring the next generation of artists to make a meaningful impact."

Give Today

Studies show that youth who engage in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement and twice as likely to volunteer in their communities.

Urban Rising LA stands proudly with the unheard and often voiceless to offer hope, classes, training and peer support. Our organization is led and operated by individuals who’ve faced the same barriers, working alongside our youth to heal and create within the boundaries of our community.

Your generous, tax-deductible donation can help us continue to stand with our unseen youth.

Thank you for supporting our mission.

The Future

“We envision a future of empowered young people who, through URLA, can effectively use their experience and knowledge to pursue their ideal future in a creative career or otherwise live a more fulfilled life.”

At Urban Rising LA, we believe that art has the power to break down social barriers and open new paths for young people who often feel unseen or unheard. Our nonprofit provides at-risk youth and young adults with access to free art classes, one-on-one mentorship, and internships at galleries—creating safe spaces where creativity becomes a form of healing and empowerment.

Studies show that youth who engage in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement and twice as likely to volunteer in their communities. Research also reveals that creative expression helps reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma, offering young people a healthier way to process their experiences. By investing in their creativity, we help them build confidence, purpose, and community.

This isn’t some feel-good art class. This is survival through expression. These kids aren’t being saved—they’re being seen. Given tools, given a voice, given spaces to burn their truth into the walls of a world that tried to erase them. This organization isn’t decorating the city—it’s rewriting its future, one mural, one life at a time.
